Living History Museum
I definitely learned a lot today! I learned several interesting facts about people I did not know. It was a fun way to get a little bit of a variety in the social studies instruction. If I were doing this in my own elementary classroom, I would have specific guidelines for the children. I would have them all learn the same types of facts about their person so that we could put together a booklet of information about these historical figures! Excellent activity!
Book Talk
I thought all of the book talks were very interesting. This is a great idea to do in your social studies classroom. It is an excellent way of linking social studies to reading and gives the students a chance to share with the entire class. The booktalk is so much better than a formal book report. I can remember hating those!!!!! I am sure students still don't like them!

Story Path
I think storypath is an excellent activity. I know I sure enjoyed creating my character and coming up with her background. This activity could be used to study any even in history. As a teacher you could adapt it to meet any need in your classroom!!!

Mt. Everest
I cannot believe wht all is involved with climbing Mt. Everest. Not to mention that amount of lessons that can be taught around it. I guess I am naive becaues I did not think it was so involved as it is. I can honestly say that I have absolutely no intention of climbing it or seeing it. It is one of those things that I will enjoy from pictures, movies, and the internet lol!
GEOGRAPHY!!!!
Oh my goodness. I was so shocked when we watched that video of the two year old in class!!! I came home and showed everyone!! My goal as a teacher is to be able to teach my children about Geography where they can retain the information. All I remember is doing worksheet after worksheet and I really don't remember anything about Geography!
